Eve opened the door into the alley behind the Blue Note and stepped outside. It was quite cold out there now. She didn’t see anyone and was about to turn and leave when she heard a sound coming from behind some boxes that were stacked in the alley.
She grabbed a baseball bat leaning against the wall and headed for the boxes. ‘I wonder if I should go check this out or go back inside. It might be a rat!’ She shuddered at the thought.
