Eve entered the recently reopened Blue Note and walked over to the bar. “Excuse me,” she said to the bartender. “Has Julian Crane been in here by any chance?”
“Julian Crane? Why, yes, that’s his table over there,” he said, pointing to a small table that had a bottle of champagne and two glasses on it.
“Is he with someone?” she asked, her heart sinking.
“No, ma’am, Mr. Crane always asks for two glasses. He’s waiting on his lost love, I guess…has been for years. It’s sad, really.”
Eve smiled. “Well, maybe someday soon, she will return to him.”
The bartender shook his head. “I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. Anyway, if you’re looking for Mr. Crane, I’m not sure where he went off to. He could be in the back office, since he is still overseeing some of the final touches on fixing up this place, or maybe he’s in the storage room. If you want to just wait on him, you could go over to his table.”
